Stun Guns for Self Defense

Choosing a stun gun

Skip the voltage claims. Pick on how the stun gun turns on, its size and safety, and whether you want a flashlight or alarm. Every model here is rechargeable.

How it turns on

Squeeze-grip models fire when you grip them, like the Shadow Anchor and Halo Grip ring stun guns. Button models use a safety switch plus a trigger button. Palm and claw grips, like the Shadow Claw and the Rapid Claw, fit tight in your hand. Ranked list: squeeze-grip stun guns.

Safety pins and kill switches

Some stun guns have a pin on a wrist strap. If someone pulls the stun gun from your hand, the pin comes out and the unit shuts off. See the Control-Link wrist-pin stun gun and the Calm Current wrist-safe model.

Size: keychain, pocket or baton

Keychain stun guns like the Silent Arc go everywhere your keys do. Pocket models like the Stealth Life Guard slim fit a jacket or purse. The Stormline stun baton gives the most reach. Guides: keychain stun guns and stun flashlights and batons.

Flashlight and alarm stun guns

Stun flashlights like the Shadowline covert flashlight and the TrailGuard pink camo work as everyday lights. The SirenGuard adds a loud alarm to draw attention.

Charging and care

Charge a new stun gun fully before first use, then top it up regularly so it is ready. Our charging and care guide covers battery life and testing.
